Once believed that we will never change because we always think we retain our own personality, habit, routine, the things we liked or disliked, etc., which we believe is our true selves, it will never change. But with time, especially after you experienced a lot in your own life, good or bad, glorious or miserable, up and down, you realized one day that you have already changed a lot. You got new values, different points of view, new ways to get along with others and more importantly, you got different way to get along with yourself, the way to cherish yourself more and understand others in a better way. This Is part of my story or my feeling about changes, it is also part of my belief in Counseling that we will change and believe that we can change once we got new cognitive thoughts, it will have impact on our behaviors, and when we change our behaviors, we got more cognitive thoughts by observing ourselves, this will result in our behaviors changes more. We can see that cognitive thoughts influence our behaviors and vice-versa. This can explain why counseling can help us because it allows us to explore different ways, which give us hope, motivation, understanding ourselves and as well as others. It is a journey that we accompany you to work together until you feel the best.
As an intern therapist, I am under the direct supervision of Julia Spain, LPC. Graduated from ASU with a Bachelor of Women and Gender Studies, and I am finishing a Master of Science in Professional Counseling. I once worked in DDD for the State as a Human Service
Specialist, I worked with adult clients and most of them needed caring and support in their mental or emotional condition. This experience gave me a chance to understand better the importance and power of good communication, which can make the day brighter for them.
In session, I will learn and practice Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Narrative therapy and any other effective theories which fit the specific situation the most. Based on mutual trust and effort, we will find the true nature of the concerns and the ways to let you feel relieved.
