Throughout my life, human behavior and change has always been an area of significant interest to me. That interest, coupled with a desire to work with people in a more meaningful and intimate way, has lead me to a career in professional counseling.
I have a BA in psychology from Ottawa University and am currently an intern therapist, completing my Masters of Science in Counseling degree at the University of Phoenix. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and am currently receiving extensive training in Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT) through Gilbert Counselors.
My approach to therapy takes a holistic perspective; understanding that physical, psychological, and social context all significantly influences mental health. I believe that clients should set the pace and goals for therapy, and that my role is to be supportive and to challenge clients toward the realization of those goals.
I have been married to my lovely wife for 21 years and have four great kids. My hobbies and interests include traveling (as far and as often as possible), reading mostly non-fiction, a love for gadgets and technology, and listening to my music, just below hearing damage levels.
