Greetings! I’m Andrew, a Licensed Associate Counselor under the direct supervision of Terri
Roman. I have had the privilege of taking on several different career paths, which began after
receiving my bachelor’s degree in finance from Southern Methodist University (‘02). I have held
several roles in a variety of fields and have lived all over the United States in both big cities
(New York, San Francisco, Dallas) and smaller communities (Topeka, KS., Alliance, NE.). The
diversity of my work and living situations have been a true gift providing me with several useful
insights into life and how best to overcome the inevitable pitfalls we all encounter. After
spending several years as a freight conductor on the railroad I came to realize I was ready to
grow in a different direction. Having grown up in St. Louis, MO. I chose to complete my Master
of Arts in counseling at Covenant Theological Seminary.
This crazy and challenging time we find ourselves in may seem overwhelming and too much at
times. Life is not often fair and comes complete with complex issues. I desire to hear your story
and come alongside you to develop the skills necessary to overcome adversity in your life. I have
experience working with those grappling with trauma, grief, substance abuse / addiction, anxiety,
depression, boundary setting, and I have a huge heart for those currently going through career
and life transitions. I believe in the relational nature each of us possesses and enjoy helping
others discover their own talents and how to better utilize them. To assist my clients in meeting
their goals, I employ psychological assessments and depending on the situation different clinical
interventions. I have found success with clients through the use of cognitive behavioral therapy
along with narrative therapy, motivational interviewing, internal family systems, and person-
centered approaches. I look forward to hearing about your journey.
I have experience working with individuals and groups and am available to meet with teens as
well as adults. I accept Aetna PPO, Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO, Cigna PPO insurances, and/or private pay
clients.
My name is Ben, and I am Licensed Associate Counselor working under the direct supervision of Terri Roman. My academic journey has led me to complete my bachelor’s degree in psychology and Master of Counseling from the University of Phoenix. Before this, I was in the United States Army for 9 years. I have learned many important lessons from while serving, during and after my active-duty status. Every single one of these moments helped shape who I am today, and I have learned to respect the journey and trust in myself. It was needed for me to learn from my experiences to become better, instead of criticizing my choices and becoming bitter.
This little explanation is just a small portion of what I like to do with my clients. I feel like examining the positives instead of condemning the negatives is a positive path to healing. I listen attentively and hear what they are saying about themselves and what it is they want to be. Sometimes, connecting these dots can be tough because finding the error in our thinking formula could take a while. With time, understanding, and guidance, I would like to work with you, on this journey, to discover your authentic self.
I have found great success with the approaches of CBT, Humanistic, Mindfulness-Based and Existential. The reason for this is because we are in our own heads all the time. We are in our heads or distracted a large portion of the day and sometimes, we forget about the importance of who we are or the amazing things we have done. That’s what I am here, to assist and help when a person finds themselves going against themselves.
I am able to accept Aetna PPO, Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO, Cigna PPO insurances, and/or private pay clients.

You are not alone! By developing a therapeutic relationship based on empathy and nonjudgement, we can work together to overcome the difficult experiences in life.

Which is why throughout my training I’ve grown increasingly toward an eclectic approach, inspired by psychodynamic therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, reality therapy, and narrative therapy. It is my goal to apply these concepts to help you to reconcile with past trauma, live more in the present, and have hope for the future. I am eager to meet you!
